Lead Sheet Take Down Service Will Convert MP3 to Sheet Music for Songwriters

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) October 04, 2011

Lead Sheet Take Down Service is a new company based in the Los Angeles area which offers songwriters the opportunity to have their original songs transcribed into real sheet music.

While songwriters today have many choices in technology to record their original songs, there is no software which will translate accurately the raw sound of one's mp3 file or one's .wav file into technically-correct written form.

Despite the software tools within top-flagship software notation programs like Finale (MakeMusic) and Sibelius (Avid), even the best of the automated software only produces approximations and best-guesses when it comes to notes, time signatures, and key signatures. That final fine-tuning remains to be done by a music-preparation copyist, someone with a good ear for melodies, harmonies, and chords.

Also, composers and arrangers would likewise benefit from converting from their pencil-and-paper scores into computer-generated scores/parts. Generating individual parts from a full score can now be done rapidly, with every written part in the proper clef and proper key for that instrument. This is in stark contrast to the old days, when an entire team of copyists would hand-write parts for all 90 members of an orchestra under impossible deadlines.

Mr. Kim Goldsworthy, founder and co-owner of Lead Sheet Take Down Service, says that sheet music has many marketing uses for songwriters and for performing artists:

One hard copy can be sent to the U.S. Copyright Office to register one's copyright.

Sheet music contains copyright information, and can hold publishing information, too, unlike a "paperless" mp3 file. No demo recording should be sent out without clear supporting documentation regarding ownership and control of that song.

Songwriters who are seeking publishers or seeking recording artists must have a lead sheet created from their demo recording so that arrangers and producers can have the lyrics, and the important harmony lines, and the chord progression, conveniently on hand as the arranger/producer adds strings, horns, and backing.

Recording artists can sell their original sheet music on-line alongside their mp3 files, so that friends and fans can "pick up their guitar and play," (like The Who sang in "Won't Get Fooled Again"), as well as sing along with the lyrics.

Sheet music in PDF form can also be given away, as a freebie, or as a gift-with-purchase, adding value to every purchase, at zero cost.
